Benjamin Chaska, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Patient Safety Officer, Emergency Physician
Dr. Benjamin W. Chaska serves as the Chief Medical Officer, Patient Safety Officer and an Emergency Physician for River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic.
Dr. Chaska received his BS in Pharmacy at North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND; and an MBA in Health Care Management at the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis. He holds a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. He specializes in Family Medicine and Administrative Medicine.
His accomplishments include: Certified Physician Executive, American College of Physician Executives; Fellow Chief Medical Officer Forum, Wharton School of Business, Philadelphia, PA; Diplomate American Board of Family Medicine; Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine, American Board of Family Practice and American Board of Internal Medicine; Fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians; and Fellow of American College of Physician Executives.
He has served on staff at Park Nicollet Health Services, St. Louis Park, MN; Oakwood Healthcare System, Dearborn, MI; Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, St. Luke’s Hospital, Jacksonville, FL; and Day County Medical Center, Webster, SD. He has taught medical students and residents of family medicine through the University of Minnesota Family Practice Residency programs since 1987, and currently serves as adjunct Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and teaches on site emergency medicine education at River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic. He also serves as a trustee for the Minnesota Medical Association.
Dr. Chaska has been engaged in patient safety for River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic and has provided presentations on patient safety for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic is the smallest mentor hospital in the nation for the Institute.
Dr. Chaska believes that the patient always comes first, then the health care system. “Physicians and other caregivers exist to serve our patients. Patients should never be harmed by the care that they receive. They have the right to expect kind, courteous, high quality, satisfying and affordable care. Carolyn A. Bowles, M.D., Rheumatology
Dr. Bowles is a rheumatologist with broad experience in treating autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma and osteoporosis. In addition to diagnosing rheumatologic disorders, she educates her patients and offers comprehensive management of chronic and acute rheumatic conditions by integrating traditional therapies with complimentary methods for improving function.
Dr. Bowles received her undergraduate degree and certificate in physical therapy from Simmons College in Boston. She received her medical degree cum laude from Boston University School of Medicine. She served on staff at Mayo Clinic in Rochester 1984 to 1992, Health Partners in St. Paul 1992 to1997, and at Park Nicollet Clinic in St. Louis Park 1998 to 2002. She most recently maintained a solo private practice in Edina. Under her guidance, patients at River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic are able to receive infusions of Remicade, Orencia and Rituxan as well as intravenous medication for treatment of osteoporosis.
She holds a certificate in Clinical Bone Densitometry. Dr. Bowles has been involved in extensive clinical research experiences.
Sarah Davis, C.N.P, Rheumatology
Sarah Davis is a Certified Nurse Practitioner who received undergraduate degrees in nursing, psychology, and French from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI and her MSN from Wichita State University, Wichita, KS. She earned a certificate in massage therapy from Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in Milwaukee, WI.
As a registered nurse she has specialized in bone marrow transplant patient care at the University of Chicago, and then oncology and general medicine in Salina, KS. She has performed research for the Wisconsin Bureau of Public Health in tobacco control, and has also held a position assisting adults with developmental disabilities.
She is Board Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.She enjoys cooking and trying new foods, singing in a choir, bicycling, and traveling.
She and her family reside in St. Peter
John J. Jacobsen, M.D., Allergy
Dr. John J. Jacobsen has provided care specializing in allergies, asthma and immunology to Southern Minnesota for over 20 years. He is also board certified in Pediatrics. Dr. Jacobsen received his undergraduate degree in Ecology at the University Of Nebraska, Lincoln, and holds a medical degree from the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine in Omaha. He completed a Pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska Clinics and Hospital in Omaha; and a fellowship in Allergy Immunology at Los Angeles County – University Of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles.
He has served on staff at Mankato Clinic and ISJ, Mankato, and Grand Forks and Fargo.
Heidi Faul, C.F.N.P., Family Practice
Heidi Faul, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND and her MSN from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She completed her clinical experiences at Big Lake Clinic, Big Lake; North Point, Minneapolis; Elkridge Clinic and RiverWay Clinic Health Partners, Elk River; and Health Partners Clinic, St. Paul.
As a Registered Nurse, she specialized in Intensive Care Nursing at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis and St. Alexius Hospital Bismarck, ND; and served as a Home Health Nurse in Roseville.
She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Heidi has had a wide range of international nursing experiences, serving at Mercy Ships, Liberia, Africa, and Lyari Community Development Center, Karachi, Pakistan.
She enjoys being physically active, being outdoors, and she loves to travel. She has participated in running events, sprint triathlons, backpacking trips, and rock climbing excursions. She also enjoys spending time with her family.
Faul believes strongly that individuals should be engaged in their own health care and said, “I believe that treating a patient holistically; mind, body, and spirit, is essential for patients to improve and sustain their health.”
A. Peter Troedson, M.D., Family Practice
Peter Troedson, M.D. is a family practitioner who received his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, and holds a medical degree from Loyola University Medical School, Chicago, IL. He completed a residency at the University of Minnesota Department of Family Practice.
Dr. Troedson is certified by the American Board of Family Practice, and has served on staff in various emergency rooms in the Twin Cities and in Family Practice in Burnsville, Sandstone, and Edina. He has also provided health care at the Minnesota Regional Treatment Center in St. Peter and in Addiction Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul.
Dr. Troedson and his staff provide the full spectrum of family medicine with an integrative theme, striving to treat the whole person; mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Troedson enjoys reading, writing, biking, computers and spending time with his four children, two grandchildren, and his dog Noel!
