Family Medicine: Dr. A. Peter Troedson, Heidi Faul, CFNP and their staff provide excellent care that’s personalized for each member of a family. To make an appointment, or for more information please call (507) 934-8480. Walk in appointments are welcome 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. at River's Edge Clinic.
Rheumatology Services: Dr. Carolyn Bowles and her staff provide the highest quality rheumatology care to patients of the area. Under her guidance, patients are able to receive infusions of Remicade, Orencia and Rituxan as well as IV medication for treatment of osteoporosis. Emergency Room: River's Edge Hospital & Clinic's Emergency Department is staffed with well-trained physicians, nurses, paramedics and emergency medical technicians 24 hours a day. Laboratory and Imaging Services supporting the Emergency Room are available 24 hours a day.
Urgent Care: Monday through Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and Holidays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk in appointments are welcome 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. at River's Edge Clinic.
Infusion & Injection Services: Infusion services are successfully provided through close working relationships with each patient’s primary care physician to meet the needs of each individual patient. We provide frequent patient – specific communication directly to the primary physician throughout each infusion service. We offer flexible hours; trained, competent and compassionate nursing staff; and a comfortable, quiet outpatient setting to deliver the highest standard of care for the patient.

Imaging Services: The Imaging Department at River's Edge Hospital & Clinic provides high quality services in many specialties.
Services include: General Radiology, Digital Mammography, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography (CT), Bone Densitometry (including Total Body Composition), and Ultrasound, MRI, Echocardiograms, Carotid Artery Ultrasounds, and Nuclear Medicine.

Laboratory: The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art methodologies and equipment to provide clinical testing in Clinical Chemistry, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Immunology, Microbiology, selected Endocrinology, EKG, Blood Gas Analysis, Immunohematology and Blood/Blood Component Transfusion Services. The laboratory is licensed by CMS as a “High Complex Testing Laboratory”.
Physical Therapy: Physical Therapy is a form of rehabilitation that works with people of all ages to improve their health and well-being. Physical Therapists help patients with neuromuscular, orthopaedic, and neurological problems, balance disorders, osteoporosis, fitness and prevention. Our therapists take a personal and direct approach to meeting an individual's health needs and goals such as pain relief, regaining movement, restoring strength and function, promoting healing, correcting deformities, and adapting to permanent changes. Physical therapists use modalities such as ultrasound, and electrical stimulation as well as exercise and education to meet their patients’ needs.
Physical therapists evaluate and assess patients recovering from injury, surgery or disease. The therapists then plan implement programs to relieve pain, teach the use of artificial limbs and assistive devices, restore function, normalize motion, and help in the recovery process. By designing individualized exercise programs, physical therapy promotes optimal physical performance and overall fitness, muscular strength and endurance.
The River's Edge Hospital & Clinic Physical Therapy Department is staffed by four registered physical therapists, a physical therapist assistant, and two aides. There is a Pediatric Therapist on call. The department is open six days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Occupational Therapy: Occupational Therapy is a form of rehabilitation that assists people of all ages who need help learning or relearning skills of daily living in order to lead as productive and independent lives as possible. Patients may have physical, neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and cognitive deficits. Occupational Therapists evaluate clients using objective measuring tools and assessments. They use goal directed activities to promote functional independence and prevent further disability. Occupational Therapists also can advise in the use of adaptive equipment, splinting needs, and work or living environment changes. They do pre-employment screenings, work site assessments, functional capacity assessments and driving evaluations.
The Occupational Therapy department is open five days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are two registered Occupational Therapists and a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Cardiac Rehabilitation: Cardiac Rehab is a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to overall cardiovascular risk reduction. It is a comprehensive long term service involving medical evaluation, nutrition counseling, risk factor management, counseling and behavioral interventions along with physical activity counseling and exercise training. Our aim is to optimize cardiovascular risk reduction, foster healthy behaviors and compliance with these behaviors, reduce disability and promote an active lifestyle for patients with cardiovascular disease.
Cardiac Rehab sessions are scheduled two to three times per week for one-hour sessions, Monday through Friday, for up to 36 sessions.
The program consists of:
- A baseline assessment
- Nutritional counseling
- Risk factor management (lipids, blood pressure, weight, diabetes, & smoking)
- Psychosocial management
- Physical activity counseling
- Exercise training
Cardiac Rehabilitation is staffed by registered nurses and exercise physiologists specially trained in the program. Most insurance, health maintenance organizations and government reimbursement plans will cover 80% of the program costs. Questions should be directed to your specific insurance provider. Stress testing is also available. Treadmill stress tests and echo stress testing are scheduled weekly. Nuclear stress testing is offered the third Wednesday of each month.

Speech Therapy: Speech therapy is a form of rehabilitation that helps people who have sustained injury or disease which has impaired their ability to comprehend speech or to express themselves verbally, or people who have impaired abilities with swallowing or eating. Clients also may have deficits in reading and writing abilities due to a brain injury such a closed head injury or stroke.

Sleep Studies: River's Edge Hospital & Clinic offers Sleep Apnea Testing and diagnosis and treatment for Sleep Apnea. Testing is performed by Winmar Diagnostics professionals at the hospital. Your family physician as well as a consulting neurologist evaluates testing results. Testing is performed in a single night and enables the person tested to return to work the next day. Persons with a positive diagnosis of Sleep Apnea may receive treatment immediately after testing as well as education and consultation with their family physician.

Ambulance Service: River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic provides ambulance services to a thirty mile area surrounding St. Peter.
Medical/Surgical Nursing Services: River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic provides 24-hour care to the varying needs of patients, including pediatrics. Our qualified staff includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Patient Care Attendants and Nurse Practitioners. At our nurses’ station, we have friendly and helpful Health Unit Coordinators to assist patients and families with their needs.
Respite/Transitional Care: This is an option for patients needing help with transition from hospital to home, or if a caregiver is unavailable to care for someone who does not need acute hospitalization.

Swing Bed Program: The Swing Bed Program is a Medicare program which enables a patient to benefit from extended care necessary to either return home or until a nursing home bed is available. A skilled nursing service and a qualifying acute hospital stay are always necessary to meet the Medicare requirement for a Swing Bed.

Discharge Planning: Discharge planning is initiated at the time of a patient's admission. Our social worker and nursing staff members help patients and families arrange home nursing services, special equipment or alternatives as needed.
